Our team recently (November 29, 2024) embarked on a journey across the Baltic sea – you may have tuned into our livestream! We’re glad to say that this event was (mostly) a SUCCESS! Yes, we did have some technological malfunctions, yes, a certain low-cost airline did break our camera equipment, yes, we didn’t disembark in Sweden, but we did all of our objectives!

- Our Tucktec kayak handled all of the waves beautifully, no water was getting inside, even when the waves reached 0.5 – 0.7 meters. It was always very stable throughout the journey.

- We travelled over 6 kilometers in rough ocean waters. Technically we would have made it to Sweden, but I was paddling in a different direction while we were fixing the cameras and dealing with other issues related to the livestream. Due to the issues with our equipment and livestream, we were running out of time – the sun was setting and we had to return our support boat to the harbor.

- The kayak withstood the wrath of the low-cost airline’s baggage handling.

- It was very easy to enter our support boat directly from the kayak, the Tucktec remained stable while standing up.

- And we tested out the equipment before our big journey… FROM EUROPE TO AFRICA!

Yes, indeed, we’ll be travelling across the Gibraltar strait! It is known as a busy shipping area with many vessels passing through each day. We have authorization to travel across the strait, from Algeciras in Spain to Ceuta, a Spanish territory in Africa. This journey will be grand – approximately 25 kilometers! This time we’ll do the livestream properly, so if you’d like to witness this journey, anticipate us to attempt it around December 6-11, depending on the weather conditions!
